31 Days :: Day 19 – Lessons From Sports

I am a big proponent of youth sports.  Whether you have a super-athletic kid or not, participation in some sort of team sport provides wonderful lessons that will serve them well throughout their formative years and beyond.

Here are a few of the lessons that I think organized sports can provide:

  • Hard work pays off
  • Sometimes you have to work through the pain or discomfort
  • Keep your eye on the ball
  • It is almost always a team effort
  • Sometimes, even when it seems all of the odds are against you, you can still pull out the win
  • Losing with grace is important – no one likes a sore loser
  • The way you practice is the way you’ll play on game day
  • You must show up
